Regional offices

A hub for sustainability and conservation

Our offices are built on people, shared experiences, and collective expertise. With five operational offices across Italy, we implement high-impact environmental and social projects while creating new opportunities for young professionals working in biodiversity.

We co-design each initiative with local communities—from concept to concrete implementation.

Lombardy

Oikos was founded in 1996 in this region, by a group of biologists and naturalists specializing in wildlife management. Over the past ten years, our conservation work in Lombardy has intensified—especially along the Ticino and Olona river corridors—through extensive project development and, more recently, the creation of territorial networks. The regional team brings together experts in natural resource management and territorial planning, working to connect local actors and support the green economy while respecting environmental needs.

Trentino Alto Adige

Our Trentino office has solid expertise in the conservation of large Alpine mammals (brown bear, ibex, marmot, red deer, and wolf). Alongside ecological management, we carry out scientific outreach activities such as guided excursions, sustainability education, and cultural exchanges, including within international cooperation projects. We collaborate with academia (notably the Master’s in Environmental and Wildlife Management and the Master’s in Fauna and Human Dimensions), contributing to the training of future environmental professionals.

Umbria

Our Umbria office promotes sustainable land management models, with a particular focus on forestry, agriculture, and local supply chains—tailored to the region’s environmental and cultural context. Specialized in wildlife management, the team monitors and manages alien and game species, supports mammal conservation, and develops environmental planning strategies. We also engage in scientific outreach and capacity-building programmes to increase local awareness and expertise.

Tuscany

Our Tuscany office promotes local culture by enhancing typical regional products such as olive oil, honey, and chestnut flour. We focus on climate change adaptation strategies that combine traditional practices with innovation. Sustainable tourism is a key tool for local economic development, aligned with the protection and promotion of natural resources.
