We strongly call on the Italian government and the European Union to take action for an immediate ceasefire, without further hesitation or delay.
As an organisation committed to defending human dignity, justice, and human rights, Oikos firmly condemns the grave humanitarian crisis and the inhumane conditions to which the population of Gaza is subjected as a result of the Israeli siege.
We express our full solidarity with the people of Palestine and join the voices calling for immediate and concrete action by the international community. We urge the Italian government and the European Union to act urgently and without further postponement in order to:
• Ensure an immediate and lasting ceasefire, to put an end to the attacks and the loss of innocent lives.
• Guarantee full respect for international humanitarian law: civilians and essential infrastructure must be protected immediately, without further delay.
• Open safe and effective humanitarian corridors, allowing unobstructed access to vital aid such as food, water, medicines, and medical assistance.
The current situation in Gaza is not only a regional crisis: it is a challenge to the very principles of humanity and justice on which international law is founded. Oikos will continue to firmly support the right of every person to live in peace, with dignity, freedom, and security, and calls on national and international institutions to turn these principles into concrete action for peace and justice.
