Turismo responsabile According to AITR (Italian Association for Responsible Tourism), responsible tourism is a “tourism realized according to social and economic justice principles and in respect of environment and cultures. The responsible tourism recognises the importance of the local community and its right to be the protagonist of the sustainable and socially responsible touristic development of its area. It works to support a positive interaction between the tourism industry, the local communities and the travellers.”

 

In linea con questa definizione sono i programmi di turismo responsabile che Istituto Oikos ha avviato in Tanzania, Mongolia, Kirghizistan e Brasile al fine di valorizzare il patrimonio locale delle comunità rurali, aiutarle a intraprendere microattività imprenditoriali generatrici di reddito, tutelando alla stesso tempo l’ambiente e la biodiversità. Istituto Oikos opera con il duplice scopo di creare maggiore consapevolezza nel turista e di dare un supporto tecnico alle comunità locali ad avviare, gestire e promuovere propri programmi di turismo ambientale responsabile.
