Women play a key role in the environment protection and in the planet safeguard. In developing countries they are responsible for the management of natural resources such as drinking water, food and fuel for cooking and warming. The wellness of families and communities is strictly related to how women are able to manage those resources. Land degradation limits the availability of natural resources, with severe repercussions on women’s lives, that have less and less time for education and for searching alternative income opportunities. Istituto Oikos supports women’s empowerment by promoting educational campaigns and supporting the inception of small businesses in the environmental sector, so that sustainability and equity can grow together.
