In Europe Istituto Oikos works mainly to protect and increase the value of environmental heritage and to preserve biodiversity through an integrated approach that considers the sustainable use of natural resources from the perspective of socio-economic development.

Programs and projects in Europe are characterized by a strong scientific approach to manage at best natural habitats, without forgetting the socio-cultural needs of the communities that lives in the area.

 

To reach this goal Istituto Oikos realises flora and fauna analysis and monitoring, land use planning and management, environmental education and training initiatives. Geographic Information Systems, Habitat Suitability Models, Decision Support Systems, other methodologies and scientific approaches are constantly developed and applied.

Istituto Oikos carries out its activities in close collaboration with Universities, research institutes, Regions, national and regional parks, provinces and local government to face problems and to find solutions together.
